Here at Dr. Emmel’s office we take pride in providing the best care to our patients all while ensuring that they feel comfortable in our office. We are a small team but that is what separates us from the competition; we can, and we do, foster a more personal and homey environment.

David K. Emmel, MD

David K. Emmel is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the treatment of glaucoma, cataract, and refractive cataract surgery. Dr. Emmel completed his medical degree at Cornell University and his residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Emmel did a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Emmel served as president of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians (CSEP), where he promoted the highest standard of healthcare delivery through continuing education for ophthalmologists, ophthalmic technicians, and other members of the eye care team. Dr. Emmel continues an active role in seeing forth the progression and promotion of this society as an executive committee member.

Dr. Emmel is a staunch advocate for patient rights and patient care in the eye care field and general medical field alike. When not taking care of patients in the office, Dr. Emmel is at the legislative branch building in Hartford advocating bills and laws in support of patients. For his continued efforts in this regard, he received the Timothy K. Chartier MD distinguished service award in in 2018  in recognition of his exemplary leadership and outstanding service to the Hartford County Medical Association and the public.

Staff members play a crucial role in the operation of a practice and the atmosphere cultivated.l Dr. Emmel has an excellent staff, as told by patients, who facilitate a warm and friendly environment.

Marianne

Everyone who comes to the office already seems to know of Marianne. She has been working for Dr. Emmel for 24+ years now. she has had many roles in the office over the past 24 years however she currently works at the front desk as a receptionist. Besides Dr. Emmel, Marianne is in many ways the face of the office; patient will come to the office just to talk with her. When Marianne is not in the office she greatly enjoys spending time with her 2 kids and 4 grandchildren.

Noreen

Noreen has been our surgical coordinator for over 11 years now. You’ll see her at the front desk with her best friend from childhood, Marianne. If there is anything pertaining to surgery in our office, Noreen is the one to see. Along with her duties of surgical coordinating, Noreen, also assists with Front Desk duties. Noreen is a realtor part-time; in her spare time, she loves to read and golf.

Jessica

Jessica is the Biller for the office and the Office Manager. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office. If there are ever any questions about billing or matters concerning the operation of the practice she is the go to person. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Jackie

Jackie has been with Dr. Emmel for over 2 years now. She mainly works at the front desk as a receptionist doing clerical tasks and other jobs. Jackie has a very outgoing personally that always brings a smile out of our patients. Jackie is currently enrolled in a masters program at Central Connecticut State University. When Jackie is not in the office she enjoys singing, playing with her dog, traveling, and spending time with her family here in the US and Poland.​

Karyl

Karyl has worked for Dr. Emmel as a technician (COA) for over 10 years now. When Karyl is not in the office she enjoys going to church, spending time with her rescued pets, and spending time with family

Donna

Donna has worked for Dr. Emmel as a technician for over 8 years now. When Donna is not in the office, she enjoys photography, wine tasting, and traveling.​
