A Mountain Home man was arrested last week after being seen on a motorcycle alleged to have been stolen from local powersports dealership. Fifty-three-year-old Lawson Herron is facing a felony count of theft by receiving.

According to an incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Home Police Dispatch advised officers last Monday they had officers out with a vehicle reported as stolen out of Baxter County and were requesting a deputy on the scene. A deputy made contact with Mountain Home officers on the scene, and they claimed to have seen the motorcycle riding with another that fled earlier that day. The officers reportedly found it later at Casey’s on Arkansas Highway 5 North.

The officers stated they stopped to speak with the male rider, and further investigation led to the discovery the motorcycle had been stolen. After running the vehicle identification number, the deputy confirmed it was stolen from Next Level Power Sports on U.S. Highway 62B in Mountain Home. Contact was made with the shop manager, and he requested a local tow company to pick it up.

The motorcycle had allegedly been spray-painted with a grey color. The seat had reportedly been painted black, but it could be seen from wear that it was formerly green.

The driver, identified as Herron, was transported Monday evening to the Baxter County Detention Center. He was released Thursday morning after posting a bond of $2,500.
